Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas) is a traditional Irish festival celebrated on the feast of the Epiphany on 6th January. In Irish the Epiphany is also known as Lá Nollag Beag (Litte Christmas). This custom celebrates the contribution women have made in the preparation for Christmas. Traditionally on this day Irish men stayed at home to look after the household duties while the women went out to visit and socialise with friends and family. This custom has always been popular in Kerry and Cork, but in recent years, there has been a revival of the festival through the country. We think that the ladies of Galbally deserve a ‘Girls’ Night Out’, especially in recognition of all they do in the football club and throughout the community.
