Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile Notes: Week Beginning 22nd Of June 2020
Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile Notes: Week Beginning 22nd Of June 2020

Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile – at the forefront for our Community
During this Covid-19 pandemic Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile have been at the forefront in helping our community.  Working hard behind the scenes accessing funding to help the vulnerable in our community, we provided over 5 tonne of coal as well as delivering over 280 food vouchers.
The club actively headed up our local Covid-19 support group providing necessary foods and goods for members of our community.  Packages containing sanitiser, gloves, visors, aprons hair nets and masks were given to our local care workers and we co-ordinated the sourcing of fabrics, cutting, sewing, cleaning and distributing of purpose made, scrubs, gowns, aprons, for our healthcare workers as well as patient night-wear in local hospitals and nursing homes.
At the end of March our Senior Footballers organised an online charity Playstation FIFA competition raising a total of £1088.53.
Last weekend our Charity Fundraising 5Mile / 5Km Walk / Run took place around our local roads. Over the 24 hours our participants managed to clock up in excess of 2600km in the sunshine, rain, wind and even darkness for many.  With donations at the event and online an amazing £5471.19 has been donated over the weekend.
Adding the senior footballer’s charity Playstation FIFA competition along with last weekend’s charity walk/run a massive total of £6,559.72 will be divided equally between our four chosen charities.

Craigavon Area Hospital Intensive Care Unit
Southern Area Hospice Services
Galbally Friends’ Fund
Charis Cancer Care

With the football action due to recommence shortly, we thank you for your continued support to Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile and to local charities.
We look forward to seeing you all in Paírc an Pharsaigh in the not too distant future.

Walking Track
In line with direction from Páirc an Crocaigh we are phasing in a limited re-opening of our walking track.  Club stewards will be present from 5pm to 9pm.  The first hour is strictly reserved for vulnerable users.  A one way system will be in use and clear signage has been put in place.  We are depending on the continuing full co-operation of everyone as we begin to return to a new form of normality.

Virtual Scor
While the GAA have been in lockdown we started a ‘Virtual Scor’ on our club’s Facebook page, to showcase the amazing talent we have in the Galbally area.  The response has been brilliant, we have received so many videos of singers, dancers and musicians.  We launched it over five weeks ago and we have had over 120,000 viewers watching the local talent of Galbally.  It is not too late to get involved, if you or anyone in your household would like to get involved send us your video to the club’s PRO Carla on 07928706084 or private mail the club’s Facebook page.
