Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile – at the forefront for our Community
It is very strange to write up club notes without mentioning the next football match, the club lotto results or when the youth training will be taking place. Everything football related has been put on hold for a while. What we as a club have witnessed again is our incredible community spirit. Since the Covid19 pandemic arrived in Ireland we have seen so many people volunteer in many different ways to help fight against it.
These are indeed uncertain times and more so now than ever, it is vital that we all continue to look out for one another and help the most vulnerable whilst following the appropriate health guidelines.
A few weeks ago with thanks to the funding from The Community Foundation, Galbally Pearses were able to offer some of the elder members of our community a bag of coal. This not only helped with their heating costs but hopefully reminded them of their importance to our club and the wider community. We thank LCC Coal for their continued support to our club.
We have also set up a team of volunteers who are working extremely hard to sew clothing for Craigavon Area Hospital. These items include men’s pyjamas, ladies nightgowns, nursing scrubs and scrub bags. We have made our second delivery of these items and we will continue this project for as long as we need to. If anyone would like to help out by cutting or sewing material please get in contact with any committee member. To all the volunteers who are helping us at present, with cutting and sewing the material, thank you again. We appreciate your support and help very much at this time.
Over the last number of days we have also been able to help and support some of the most vulnerable in our community. With thanks to Halifax and The Community Foundation we were able to provide a £10 food voucher for over 60s (one per household) for use in Tally’s Mace. The voucher should be redeemed by 31st May 2020. If you know of anyone who may have missed out on a voucher please private message the Galbally Pearses facebook page or let any committee member know.
Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile would like to offer our support, help and assistance to anyone in the Galbally area who may find it difficult over the next number of weeks. These are unprecedented times that we are facing and right now we need to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community are able to access the support and service they may need.
We can offer help to get essentials such as:
Food, Toiletries, Medications, Prescriptions, Fuel
If you know of anyone or perhaps its for yourself, please contact anyone from our committee who will pass your number on to our Covid Support Group.
In line with recent developments across Ireland and following guidelines from Croke Park the running track will remain closed until we receive further notification.
Thoughts & Prayers
The club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the following families on the death of their loved ones: Peggy O’Neill, Pat Tally, Sean Ruddy, Frank Quinn, Declan Grimes, Anthony Goodwin and Baby Ryan Quinn. We are thinking of you all through this tough time. May they Rest in Eternal Peace.
In these tough times we are facing we are praying we will all get through it and we will return to normality very soon. Until then, look after yourself, your family and stay safe.
