 Minor Boys
Training continues on Monday & Wednesday nights at 7.15pm.
Our minor boys recorded a big win over Moortown today in round 3 of the grade 1 minor league.  The game was played in Moortown in perfect football conditions.   The home team opened the scoring with a point but Galbally soon equalised through a Caoimhin Quinn score.  Soon after Mark Donnelly scored a point from a free on the right wing to put Galbally ahead.  Moortown then took control of the game scoring 3 points but on the 20th minute Daniel Kerr rattled the net to put Galbally a point up.  Moortown tagged on another point soon after but Galbally finished the first half the strongest scoring points from Kieran Holland, Daniel Kerr and Darragh Traynor leaving the half time score 1-05 to 0-05.  The second half started bright for the Pearses with Caoimhin Quinn scoring a goal and a point within the first 8 minutes of the second half.  Moortown battled hard scoring a goal and two points and where trying to fight their way back into the game but a Daniel Kerr point from a free and a point from Mark Donnelly kept the deficit between the teams.  On the 17th minute of the second half Callum Kelly picked up a long pass in behind the Moortown defence to score goal number 3 for the Galbally team.  Three minutes later on the 20th minute Daniel Kerr attacked from the wing to score Galbally’s 4th goal of the game and bring his own personal tally to 2-02.
Galbally dominated the final 10 minutes of the game picking off scores at ease through Conor Donaghy x 2, Cormac Donnelly with substitute Tiarnan Loughran fisting the ball to the Moortown goal on the 30th minute.  Overall Galbally showed a good team performance and we hope they can carry this momentum into the Edendork game on Sunday 13th March.

Team:-  Dwayne Mulgrew, David Tally, Conor Quinn, Marc Lennon, Darragh Corrigan, Dylan Mc Veigh, Kieran Holland (0-1) , Cormac Donnelly (0-1), Cathal Kelly, Callum Kelly (1-0) , Darragh Traynor (0-1), Daniel Kerr (2-2) , Conor Donaghy (0-2),  Caoimhin Quinn (1-2), Mark Donnelly (0-2) Substitutes  Tiarnan Loughran (1-0) for Cathal Kelly.  Final Score: – Galbally 5-11 Moortown 1-07

The next league game is the refixed fixture away to Edendork on Sunday 13th March @ 4pm in Galbally.

Minor Ladies
Our minor girls took on Ardboe in round 2 of the minor ladies league on Thursday evening in Galbally.  The game was played in very wintery conditions under lights but this didn’t deter both teams from trying to play to their full potential in a wet and windy Pearse Park.
Ardboe started the game the brightest picking up a few scores early while Galbally found it hard to get scores playing against the strong breeze.  Galbally goal keeper Oonagh Mc Keown pulled of an amazing save just before halftime to keep the Ardboe lead to a minimum going in to the half time break on a score line of Ardboe 0-6 to Galbally 0-0.
In the second half and with the wind behind their backs Galbally recorded a couple of early points to bring themselves back into the game, but Ardboe found the net twice to extend their lead.  Galbally then started to pick up more possession around the middle of the field and take some control of the game through midfield partnership of Claire Mc Keown and Catherine Walker both getting on the score sheet and with Claire’s continuous long runs running at the opposition this was certainly proving difficult for the Ardboe defence.  Galbally got two goals late in the game from Megan Wylie and Anna Donnelly but these proved just not enough as Ardboe held on to win by the narrowest of margins on a score line of Ardboe 2-08 Galbally 2-07.

Galbally team & scorers:- Oonagh McKeown, Natasha Hackett, Katie McKenna, Shannon McKeown, Celine Knipe, Sarah Quinn, Ciara Kelly, Catherine Walker 0-1, Claire McKeown 0-3, Maeve McGlinchey, Megan Wylie 1-0, Anna Donnelly 1-2, Hannah Donnelly; Subs used; Cara Quinn 0-1, Ciara O’Neill

Next League game is scheduled for Sunday 27th March away to Edendork – further details to follow.

Under 14 (Boys)
Our U14 boys started their league campaign with a disappointing result against Moy on Saturday 5th March.  This young side took a 1-2 to 0.00 lead after 10 minutes courtesy of Barry Carberry.  Shortly after this Senan Morgan got a black card & Moy came back into game and leading by 4 points before scoring a penalty just before half time.  With a culmination of Galbally playing against the wind and Moy starting strong it just wasn’t going in Galbally’s favour and Moy won on a score line Galbally 3-10 Moy 6-14.

Galbally team & scorers:- Odhran Gillespie, Conall Quinn, Jack McElroy, Eoghan Carberry, Rory Hetherington, John Hetherington, Conor McKeown, Senan Morgan, Owen Dickson, Conor Kane, Darragh Kelly (1-5), Darragh McCool, James Donnelly, Peter Cush, Barry Carberry (1-03) Subs Dara Hetherington, Diarmurd Kelly,  Oisin O’Neill, Ryan McElroy, Cormac O’Donnell & Anton Quinn.

Training continues on Tuesday & Thursday nights from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.  There will be a challenge game against Killeeshil on Saturday @ 1pm- details will be given out at training and on Facebook.  The next league game is against Stewartstown at home on Saturday 19th March @ 2.30pm – further details next week.
